Red and green,

shrieks of laughter,

hollers of happiness,

a chorus of joy fills the Den.

 

Cousins and grandparents,

brothers and sister,

uncles and aunts,

all together by the warm fire.

 

Wrapping paper strewn across the carpet,

mounds of toys miles high,

     a smile upon every face ,

sadness banished from this happy place.

 

In the blink of  an eye,

in a flash of Christmas light,

gleeful words of thanks turned to sorrow filled goodbyes.
